Driving down the road this afternoon I see a nice tan 60 for sale. Called him and he said, "make me an offer, I want it to go to a good home"

My first instinct is to check with you guys to see what you think.

1985 FJ60, clean, straight body. Very minor rust bubbles on the tailgate, very light rust around rear quarters. Stock drive train and engine(recently tuned up) Custom front bumper with winch :bounce: and comes with extra set of tires and rims. Also comes with roof rack and jerry cans for the rear.
Interior has usual rips in the front seats, rest looks excellent.
188K on the odometer.

How much do you think I should offer him?

Thanks for the input!!!!

At that mileage, I would not offer more than $3500. Perhaps it is worth more, but there could be all sorts of issues lurking.

I just bought my 85 FJ60 for $1500. It is rust free and the interior is very good no drvrs
seat rip at all. Now mind you it did have a blown headgasket and a bad radiator, and
i spent $50 for a good radiator and $100 for Headgasket set and fixed it myself. It
has 213k on the odo hence the headgasket i assume. It is bone stock with only mods
being a set of aftermarket rear slider windows and a set of 1/2 tread 31's if i'm lucky
the paint is a little faded being that its silver. I would say that $2500 would be a fair
price, but without pics it would be hard to say. hopefully this helps and doesnt confuse
you more

85 is a year of changes for the 60. check the production month 10/85 or later is more desierable. RUST sucks so if the drivetrain is in good shape and it has under 200k miles 1500-2500, but it should be inspected by a qualified cruiser mech. prior to purchase.

I refuse to "make me an offer". Bull crud, you're selling it, you know what you want for it, it's your truck, name a price. "make me an offer" just means he hopes you're a big enough fool to make your first bid above his asking price. Tell him your wife won't let you make an offer. You can only go to her with a real price. That, or offer 500, at which point he'l tell you what he really wants.
