I have asked this before (and nobody knew) so I figure it's time to ask again:

Has anyone installed a VAIS SoundLinQ2 SL2Vi in a 2003 Land Cruiser with factory Nav? The website says it works with a 2004 LX470 but their tech support won't commit to saying that it will work in the 2003 LC.

Are there any differences between a 2003 LC and LX470 when it comes to the Audio / Video / Nav system other than Bluetooth?

Here is their application chart:

http://www.vaistech.com/manuals/SL2Vi & SL2Vu Application Guide.pdf

I know I can use the VAIS SL2i-Up (Audio only) but I would really love to be able to play videos on the navigation screen as well. :grinpimp:

I did in my 2004 which has the 4th gen and using the mod in the FAQ to disable the safety feature. Iknow that doesnt answer your question

Honestly the stock Nav screen sucks for videos. I watched maybe 3 DVD's on mine before I gave up. Get an iPad instead mount it next to the dash. WAY better solution, and it doubles as a real GPS navigation device.

I admit the screen is not state of the art but I have watched many, many DVDs without issues. Granted the colors are a bit washed out but then again I really don't expect home theater quality in my car.

I also have a rear DVD that gives a much better picture. Sometimes I am waiting for my daughter or wife, thats why I have 5 CDs and 1 DVD with the Holy Grail on it in the changer. When the wait grows, I switch to the movie baecause you can enjoy just a few minutes of

[after slicing one of the Black Knight's arms off]
King Arthur: Now stand aside, worthy adversary.
Black Knight: 'Tis but a scratch.
King Arthur: A scratch? Your arm's off.
Black Knight: No it isn't.
King Arthur: What's that, then?
Black Knight: [after a pause] I've had worse.
King Arthur: You liar.
Black Knight: Come on ya pansy.

I also have the Ip[ad and mount if I am going to watcvh a hole movie. Just don't have it in when I am drioving around town

It's really more about squeezing all the capability you can to have options

I should mention to clarify, my videos come from the DVD player and the VIAS or no VAIS has no impact on that. I know VAIS sells a unit compatible that allows videos from the IPOD to the screen. WShen I looked, I don't think it woirks on Land Cruisers

To people using any kind of VAIS system in the LC or LX: Can you play tunes from other apps and not from the iPod player like Pandora and Slacker?

Look ya stupid bastard, you've got no arms left! Ha, one of my favorites of all time.

I have an iPad but I'm actually thinking about getting a galaxy tab for the LC. I effing hate iOS. That being said, if you can tolerate watching movies on your factory screen, good for you! It would drive me nuts personally.

I only have a iPod Classic so I can't test it with my SL2i-UP. The VAIS is not compatible with the iPad so can't try that one either. Someone with a VAIS and iPod Touch will need to try it.

If Pandora and/or Spotify on the iPod Touch worked through the VAIS I would probably buy a Touch tomorrow.....anyone going to help?

How do you mount the iPad? Where did you get the mounting system? Pics?

Do a search, been a couple iPad threads already here on MUD.

RAM MOUNT

Here's mine. I got one of the first released by RAM and since then there has been several others here on MUD with the same mount.

FYI, I have the original RAM roller mount. I'm going to switch it out for a RAM Tab Tite while also getting a RAM X-Grip for my new iPhone 4s.

The VAIS VML is a great sounding integration devise. It is far better than CD multichanger/radio/XM/Sirius. Pandora through iPhone/iTouch is great as long as you don't get dropped driving around.

Do you have one. Many of these do not work on 01-02s w/navigation.

I want a setup that works with the iPhone 4S in a 2005LX, anyone know of one?

iPod/iPhone Audio Only

VAIS SL2i-UP $199

iPod/iPhone Audio & Video

VAIS SL2Vi $349

I have the SL2i-UP and year and half later it's still working perfectly. The web site lists the iPhone 4 as compatible. I don't see why the 4s would be any different but I will know soon as I get mine.
