Hey all,

I’ve got a 350 swapped truck. It doesn’t have the stock fan shroud. The fan diameter of this engine is 19”. From what I’ve read, the 3F blade diameter is 17”. I would imagine the stock fan shroud is prob 19 around the fan blade, and it doesn’t seem to sit center, is that correct? Can someone also tell
Me how far back the shroud goes from the radiator? My fan sits about 5” back. I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth trying to buy a stock fan shroud to try and make fit, or if I’m better off trying to fabricate one.

Thanks

The shroud needs to seal against the radiator so there’s no big gap for air leaks.

If you end up fabbing one, this is a good method

Thanks for this. I had seen a few other threads where people fabb'd some up but not necessarily the actual guide. Agreed with that OP, the summit ones wouldn't cut it anyways since they don't have the flat sides that would allow you to mount to those areas on the stock radiator.

Agreed. And that's the issue with the TBI 5.7 shrouds, they are top and bottom mounts and not quite the right dimensions anyways. But the stock shroud seems off-centered, and my fan sits higher than the radiator by a bit as well.

I had a mud member do these for me. Took it to kinkos pprinted them and did the fabbing...
Might or not work for yah.. these are based off of an FJ60 radiator

Thanks! I'm getting something fab'd up friday, I'll show these to him.

Currently trying to see what stock hose attached to the fender for FJ62's that went to the airbox, to replicate that. You don't happen to have a photo or PN for that do you? :)

I have that rubber part after modifying my airbox. Not sure it’s all that useful in an LS swap

Thanks for that photo. Is that metal clamp what bolts to the fender?
I’m wondering if maybe a vortec box modified to have that hose/clamp or some version of it go to the driver side fender suffices. The 60 series goes behind the headlight, but the 62 goes to that like 4” circular hole on the side fender?

Yes it bolts inside the fender and I think it would. I modified the stock box to do just that in my build thread but with a 4” inlet into that 4” hole

Nice work! I don't have the stock airbox and they def aren't cheap. I'm wondering if those universal air cleaner "boxes" might be enough to just mount near the front of the driver side. Wouldn't be a true CAI but would certainly be better than the stock TBI air cleaner that's currently on there.

Drop a picture of your current setup here and I’m sure people will be happy to suggest an easy alternative.

I mean hell, half the big $$ v8 swaps end up with a cone filter on a pipe in that area. So maybe it doesnt matter?
