Posted this i the 80 section but no one had much to say.

Really have been thinkin of jumping on the band wagon and swapping in a v8.
Huge question with me is, how come people aren't just swapping out the t case? The marks adapter seems so costly, and it seems as if a cheaper option would just to swap a different t case?

With a centered t case output make vibes that much worse?

Clearly I want to keep the costs down, so input would help!
Chime in! Ideas? Opinions?

it's not just the centered output that'll mess with you ( fuel tank clearance issues ) but the centered output also exits the t-case at the centerline of the crank. so it makes for an increased drivelie angle as well.

i have a vortec 80, it's my DD. running a 4L60E and a split case from an FJ60. still has the offset output to the passenger side and down and it has the added bonus of allowing you to run in 2wd.

plus, the adapter is much cheaper! pm me if you need a quote.

that's what i would run.

Got your pm but couldn't respond because your pm box is full. So please delete some of your messages. Check your "sent" folder also.

Got it all cleared up.
Also, is there a particular 60 or 62 case people are using?

any of the fj6x series cases will work. the 62 case is vacuum shifted but can be converted to mechanical shifting as well.

Also, you could get really crazy and throw a 203 in front of the t case and make it a doubler!! :)
Just a though!!

See and that's why I was asking about different cases.
I was thinkin 203/205 but if a 203 can go in front of a split case.... Hhhhhmmmm

Who sells the adapter to go from an NP203 reduction box to a split case?

I've seen the NP203 to '3 speed' and '4 speed' t-case adapter, but not to a split case.

Jerry Nichols of Colorado off road express is where I got mine ( as mentioned by Georg).
It was a pita getting the linkage set right, but what an AMAZING thing low gears are!!! WOW!!!

one of my friends is parting out a chevy 203 (adapter, rangebox, and input gears), it was behind a TH350 (27 spline input)

When doing just the split case, does the driveshaft have to be changed?

Yes, the drivelines will need to be altered; one shortened and one lengthened. But that's easy compared to the rest of the conversion work.

Yup, just trying to get all costs in order as much as I can.
Didn't know the lengths of all of stuff put together.

I hadn't even thought of this, but how do you guys think 5.29s, with 37s and a 4l60e is gonna be on the highway?!?

Buuuut I already 5.29s....

Might just have to save up for some 40s too! Haha

Man, the costs just keep going up and up!

If you already have the gears in there than run them.

Georg
