I've put up a post on ONSC about getting some sites. I don't think there are enough campers to go Group Site but there are still two double sites at Arrowhead as of tonight.
Campers let's meet over at ONSC. That's the NC club; Olde North State Cruisers.
Thanks.

we decided to either cancel or postpone Dec 6 meeting ....as at the time we did not have confirmed participation and rest of month is shot with holidays and stuff.

If Uwharrie is half as good as Cullowhee I will be pleased....first time going here for me.

Trust me, it is at least half as good, and the camping is at least twice as good, and it's about half as far for you, so do the math LOL.

Don't forget the Sammy Swag we discussed, eh?

BTW there is an outdoor range there, just thought I'd mention it. Last time I was up there I kept hearing full-auto bursts, once sounded like a whole 30 rounder. I was wishing I'd brought some caps to pop.

mmmmm might bring something along in case we have free time. I only have a few things left..... PM me what you were looking for specifically and I will dig through it this weekend and throw in FJ so I wont forget it. :D

You have to wear a helmet out there?
That's what the website says.
It doesn't specify if that is trucks or ATV's it just says OHV's

Just ATVs and MTCs require helmets. The range cost just a couple of dollars to use, they usually have a volunteer there to collect. Can't remember if you need your own targets, pretty sure you do. There is a pistol and long gun section.

If you want firewood, there is a small house and barn on the right a few miles before the turn off. I believe it is across from the fire dept. The outpost sells wood too but you can get more from the guy on the side of the road. He has a slot in the wall under the lean to to push your three dollars through in case he is not there.

If this is your first trip, pay your $5 park access fee at the Elderado Outpost (BP station). Sometimes the ranger is sitting at a trail entrance checking permits.

Okay the run is a little over a week away...and so far it looks like

Anyone else from Lowcountry group thinking about going? We are all staying in Arrowhead Campgrounds...I am in spot 23....BillWright from Upstate is in 25. DBENKE is pitching his tent on my spot as it is good for 8 people.

Everyone is welcome....I am going up Friday and coming home on Sunday if anyone wants to convoy or just fill an empty seat.

Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving holiday and a relaxing weekend. Be safe and hope to see more of you at Uwharrie.

I'm in #24, Dave Proinv from Florence is in #25.
Each site accomodates up to 8 people and 2 vehicles.
A half dozen or more sites on that side of the loop are still available including 27 & 29 which are doubles, $30 ea. The lower ones, i.e. the ones before you get to ours are kinda slopey and tight. I booked on ReserveAmerica. When you pick one out it makes you go to a .gov site to book.
Most of the ONSC guys are daytrippers but at least a couple are talking about staying Saturday night sleeping in their cruisers.
And there are other camping options; two more campgrounds, three group campgrounds and trailside primitive camping (free). But I like Arrowhead best.
I'm happy to share my site but parking could become a problem. The campsite host (rangerette) is right across the street from us.

it looks like I'll be bringing 3 other people at least in two tents. my brother may come in his horse trailer camper. I doubt he'll make it. If he comes we'll get another site. not sure yet.

I killed two deer this week so everyone count on eating some sausage and a stew or something. I might do a chicken bog.

anyone want to meet up for a convoy or is it going to be multiple departures and arrivals. I am heading up on Friday....hope to be there around early to mid afternoon. might head over to gun range for a bit or just nap in the tent. dont wake me when you get there.....i will be dreaming of my new bumper, new winch, tire carrier and trouble free wheeling....LOL

i will have a cooler if any is going to waste :D :D

Funny story...since you mentioned it.

Did not see a thing Friday night but a doe ran into the side of the four wheeler trailer on the way home.:whoops: We recovered that unmolested deer after bending the fender back off the tire.
Then Saturday morning a doe stopped in front of my .243 right where I had dumped some corn. So, needless to say, we have two deer.

FJC is just fine.

Ron, I'll drive up with you, but I'll be pulling a trailer w/ my work van so I may be a little slower.:grinpimp:
What time are you leaving??
