Just wondering if we could get a small group to do Uwharrie Dec 6th before it closes? We could meet at the gas station at 10am?

Anyone?

I have only been to Uwharrie once, so I would like someone to go who has been.

I should have my truck a little more trail ready by then and will try and make it too. There is a chance i may have to go to a wedding that weekend. Will have to see.

Same as the others with commiting, but if I'm home that weekend (looks like one that I would be)...I'll be there. Hell I need to go atleast once more to get my moneys worth out of my season pass.

Overnighter is possible, however, I am not sure where to camp unless you can do that at the top of Kodak rock where the red necks are. ;-)

Unless you're an insufferable purist there are campgrounds there with power, water, fire rings and hot showers.
Or you can primitive camp in the trail system------by yourself.

I'm there. I have a party Friday night, probably will come up after that, get there about midnight thirty.

are there cabins around there that can be rented or just pay by the hour motels for you local boys and the out of town girls calf roping and Mtn Oyster cutting teams?:D :D

Neither. They just use the barns. URE has horse trails, rings and barns so I suggest you paint that FJC before you come up there now. There is also a very active rifle range.

Bout 20min away in my town of Albemarle, there are several motels and hotels (the chain type)...including the closest which is Richies Motel, rent-by-the-hour. BYOsheets!

They have a nice campground with bathrooms and showers. I wouldn't say HOT. but we were there in Aug, so lukewarm was OK. Campground is on Badin Lake, still on the trail system, just dirt roads. The trails are between 2 and 5 miles away, and the store is about 2 mi. It's worth camping, rates wern't much if I recall, but you need to make reservations. (I did ours online)

A lukewarm shower feels pretty good when it's 15*, so does a semi-warm toilet stall.
The store has good hot food; breakfast, burgers, dogs and sandwiches. Plus minor groceries and all the camping gear you forgot to bring. It's also where you get your trail pass. It's called The Outpost. Or maybe Eldorado Outpost.

Logan: Hope you make it guy, been too long. BTW I'm also coming up for 8 Nov. You coming home for the Wake game?

Bill, Any info you can post on where to make reservations for the camp ground?

Robin:
I'll look it up tonight but briefly there's a web site, prolly a phone #. Tune up google.
I never register in advance, I've always found something on Friday night but it's probably prudent if it's the last w/e of trails. We normally use Arrowhead, there are others.

Yes, I should be able to make this trip.

This is the link for Arrowhead CG.

I booked Site #25 for Fri & Sat night, we usually stay in that back loop. 26 & 27 are large double sites but 23 & 24 are good sites. The host is on the left before that turn. They don't bother people (nice).

Robin I put my crack investigator on the reservations link.
It should be posted soon.
Oh wait, there it is.
Nothing like having a private eye on the case.
