Tentative plan (though no particular date chosen):

Leave Friday afternoon from SLC, I80 to Wendover, dinner & play in Wendover, leave there ~9pm. Camp somewhere South of Wendover (about 1hr away). Day two (Saturday) get up and head southwest, hit up Baker, Lehman Caves, and some misc mine sites & ghost towns. By 2pm, start heading Southeast into Utah, make way to Gold Hill and spend the rest of the day exploring the area. Day three (Sunday), check out the Foote resevoir, Gandy area, and finish off near Cat Canyon (possible a quick CC run) and then head home via HWY6 to I15 to SLC (approx 2.5 hour drive).

Obviously there is still alot of planning required, I am waiting to hear from a few others about the sites we want to hit...

Alternate would be to access Gold hill via 5 Mile Pass and skip the Wendover route all together, it would give us more time in the Deep Creek Mountains...

Here are a few of the sites I'm planning on hitting...

Notch Peak Area
Marjum Pass
Crystal Ball Caves
The Foote Resevoirs
Warm Springs
Wheeler & Baker, NV
Amasa Area
Deep Creek Mts
Joy Area
Fish Springs
Gold Hill

& More... :D

Kurt:

This sounds like a great trip.

When are you planning on this get together? (dates?) If the times were good, I'd drive out for this one.

Thanks much.
Best.

...Oh wait, do you have to have lockers...

You wern't invited... you are summoned, and yes your lockers will be working!

As for the dates... nothing in stone yet, we are hammering them out based on the dates of other club & association runs :D

Cool, stay tuned for updated info. I plan to add a webpage to my site regarding this trip soon.

I am updating this as per request of many interested parties:

I hope to have a date for this adventure by the first of the year (2005). I am awaiting my school schedule, TLCA, Wasatch Cruiser, TTORA, Wild Yoats, U4WDA & misc other club schedules to try and find a date which satisfies most.

Along with that, I plan to have a prelimary meeting sometime in January. The meeting will cover the trip options (if options still exist), vehicle requirements as well as the general logistics of the trip.

One of my thoughts was to assign each person going to research a
particular site that we will be traveling to. Tons of info is available via the internet, library, etc... but it would be fun if we all became psuedo-experts about the various destinations, that way we make this trip very informative too.

Other options are group meals, other activities (shooting, fishing, hiking, climbing, rapelling, etc).

So far the range of of desinations for the trip are roughly Wendover to Delta Utah, 30 miles on each side of the Utah/Nevada border... so there are ALOT of possilbe destinations.

I have also been contacted by a local club member who lived in Baker, NV as an archaologist, he has offered to point out a couple of cool ruin sites to visit, should be really cool.

More than anything I just want people to start planning on being ready for this type of trip, and leaving some good weekends open until we hammer out a final date for this trip... stay tuned for more info and please add any trip input (destination info, ideas, suggestions, etc)

Thanks!

-Kurt

Hello All, I am working on getting some dates nailed down for this trip... I already have a busy schedule in front of me (UROC, WCC, TLCA, School), but I want this trip to be a reality... Stay tuned... :D

Sounds cool, keep us posted, I may have some hookups for some cool camping/lunch spots in the Baker area - private ranch land, depending on time of year and size of group. I'd like to hook up with you guys, not much LC stuff here in my area. it'd be good to wheel with some other Cruiser types for a change.
