Using a Ballistic Fabrication Battery Box (1 Viewer)

Anyone ever tried it? My j-hooks have pulled the side and it lets the battery move more than I would like and I was just wondering if anyone had tried to replace the oem hold downs with one of these types of Battery boxes. I know I could reinforce the sides, but I was thinking of getting one and trying to drop it inside the factory divider box. Not sure about the attachement to the inner fender, but ballistic is running 15% off right now and I want to pick up some tow points from them anyway so I may pick one up and see how it fits. If it works, I will probably use one for a dual battery mount once I ditch the smog pump and EGR.

While their website looks like good stuff, they have burnt a bunch of our fellow 4wheelers, and I would steer clear if all I was looking for was a battery box. I got my clevis mounts from Competition 4x4 on ebay a week ago. Lots of companies out there, do research on them before you purchase.

Thanks for the replies, I will do some research before I go any further. There are some others out there who make a similar box, it was more the idea of that type of battery box sitting inside the factory plastic shield to securely locate the battery.

Look up Artec Industries. Seem like good guys to deal with and have tons of battery box options.

I know Trail Gear sells a nice looking all metal battery box and have heard nothing but good things about them. I know it's deisgned for Optima red tops, so that may be a problem. I have also seen lots about Blue Torch Fab having something similar. Either of those are who I'll go with probably for a dual set-up.

So I like the artec but I am leaning towards the ruff stuff box. It seems to be the simplest and the top looks best for using the military style connections without arcing.

Not related to the box, but part of why I was looking at BF page is they have some nice recovery points and either I am over looking them or none of those guys sell weld on recovery/ clevis mounts. Anybody know where to find some?

Edit: found some at TG and BTF, but both are surface mount, any thru type mounts?

It sounds like you know what you want. Draw them up with some dimensions and go to a local fab shop. Many fab shops have rem you can buy by the lb. No shipping cost, you get "custom" exactly what you want, and it will probably be less expensive.

4x4 labs has some nice weld through recovery points. But I agree with Hev, draw some up ad get someone local to make exactly what youre looking for.

Po had my battery held with a nylon strap and it was way to loose. I jiggered up a hold down using the original J hook hole but made my own threaded hook and top plate. Battery doesnt move at all now.
