I am in the market for an LX, thanks for all the good threads on here for what to look for!

I found a 2011 LX570 with only 36k miles, but Lexus History shows a Timing Cover Leak on both sides of the engine that was repaired at 21k. The power steering pump was replaced at the same time.

Is the timing cover leak different than the cam tower leak? Haven't seen much on Timing Cover leaks, and do you think a failure at that low of mileage could predispose it to the Cam Tower leak later if they are different?

Thanks for any info.

Mine has it, and a cam tower leak. It leaks about a teaspoon an oil change. Think of it as rust prevention and rock on.

yes they are different - and yes it probably has a cam tower leak.

Mine has the same leak. Was very minor when I got it at 105k, slowly getting worse now at 150k. I’m a bit OCD about leaks so I’ll be addressing it at some point in the future. It is a huge job or would be done already.

And yes it is different than cam tower. But not unheard of.

If it isn’t obvious this is the same 5.7 that came in iforce tundras.. so any engine questions can be searched for on the appropriate forums with a ton more available info since there were many times more of those produced than 200s.

My 08 had it. I got it fixed last month under warranty. It’s a low pressure leak, nothing but cosmetic really. It cost $2800 at the dealer for the repairs.
