Ok, I tried the wrench/pipe wrench thing. No go. I tried a nut splitter and am having little success. My big nut splitter is too big and my little one wont fit over the "flange" at the bottom of the nut. SO, does anyone have any suggestions before I get out the torch? Keep in mind, I can not get a box end wrench on it anymore due to the nut splitter.

Try a small butane torch on the top of the threads. you are fighting locktite most likely and need to break it loose.

Not sure about the LC 80 series, but on other vehicles I have worked on, an air wrench makes quick work of upper strut nut removal.

The DS nut is under the master cylinder

On my '97 the nut came off really easy...can you get a sawzall in there? You are trashing the shocks right? So cutting the entire nut/stud/etc wouldn't be a problem right? That's what I'd try...

Good Luck...

Trashing the shocks. I dunno if I could get a sawzall in the fender well, but I'm still tempted to try a torch:)

Ok, blew the nut off with a torch. Due to the cramped quarters in the enigine bay I had to cut half the nut off, turn the shock 180* and cut the other half off.

NOTE1* I use a torch every day at work on $$$$$$$$$$ equipment. If you don't have lots of experiance with a torch, don't put one under your hood.

NOTE2* Shock bushings burn.

Yea, especially right there in that spot, where you could set the whole world on fire. Its all down hill from here though. Don't forget the brake proportioning valve.

Just anihilate the hell out of it any way you can, you will never use the nut or shock again.

Can I say hell on here?
