Hey All,

I am new here but I am enjoying the forum! I searched and was unable to find my answer, my appologies if this has been covered. Has anyone upgraded or swapped the entire pedal box? I know anything can be done with enough time and effort but curious if anyone has already done this? The pedals in my ’75 fj40 are very spread out (brake much closer than the gas pedal) and mine have seen better days. I am on the taller side and I would like to move the brake and clutch pedal closer to the floor. My 40 already has a V8 so I don’t see a reason to keep the OEM pedals.

My qusection is, should I make the stock pedal box work or should I try to swap to an off the shelf pedal box? The image below is a bottom mount but I could also find top mount sets.

Thanks for any help,
John

both pedals need enough throw in them to move enough fluid
as you stated with enough time and money it could be done.
you also have the steering column in the way
the pedal arrangement you show has the pivots at the floor, that may not feel comfortable sitting up high in the seat,

I get needing more leg room. I don't recall seeing any one change there pedals out. I think I would do some tricks to your seat to gain more room. The pedals might be a real can of worms with the end result not being much better. I think I gained close to 3" by modifying my seat mount
