Hi all,

Well the search for the clutch banjo fitting didn't go very well, but as it turned out I was able to re-use the one I had. Once the 11mm tube fittings came in and were bored out we were able to re-create a new hard line with good flares. With it fastened to the rubber line and the banjo fitting, the assembly was tested for no leaks and all was good! I bolted everything back together, bled the clutch and was back in business. Next morning, everything was still good so I got cocky and headed for the hills to check out some old mines near Winkelman. I walked several miles away from the truck, came back and found that there was no clutch without pumping it up! Back to square one. The master cylinder seemed wet at the base of the reservoir, but I couldn't tell whether it was leaking or had sloshed the fluid out on the trail coming in. Everything else seemed fine. With 4-lo, I didn't really need the clutch to get back to the main road. Once there, I re-bled the clutch and it worked fine to get home. Next morning same deal--no clutch without pumping. My thinking was it had to be a bad master cylinder or clutch cylinder even though they were both new--so I pulled off the master cylinder(still under warranty) because of the wetness that I had seen earlier, returned it and got another one from BAP. It has now been a week and everything seems to be fine. Hopefully the problem has been solved.

For those of you with the early FJ40 that use the 11mm tube fittings, Magill's(sp?) in Tucson ordered in a bag full. I bought several extras and he still has the rest. They do have to be bored out to take the larger hydraulic line and take a 11mm wrench rather than the 12mm.

So while I didn't get any parts from folks here on this list, I did get good info on a parts source to solve a problem that had effectively grounded my vehicle.
Thanks!!

BTW: Now that I have an actual running Land Cruiser, and not a hanger queen, I can post an introduction at the top of the page!!
