Starting in 1980, the U.S.-spec Land Cruiser became available in one body style -- five-door station wagon. It was replaced in 1991 by a larger, more luxurious vehicle that sported full-time four-wheel-drive and a fully independent four-wheel coil-spring suspension.

seems like their marketing dept is a little ahead of the engineering guys

thats news to my pair of US spec 1982 fj40's.

I have tried to ask Toyota to correct numerous errors on there history sights, short version from Toyota...........they don't care.

Hi Drexx,
Is that my old winch bumper that I sold you a couple of years ago? How has it worked out for you?

Hey, hey, hey!!! It's nice to hear from you again! I thought you got burnt out with Land Cruisers for a bit --glad you didn't! How's the family? :)

And yup, that's the old Sahara bar I carried all the way from San Diego! Nearly had an accident on the way back then, on I-5 N, as I fell asleep on the wheel for a coupla seconds while on cruise control at 70mph.... Woke me up in a hurry and I parked on the side.

Anyway, yeah, the Sahara bar was just in time for my trip to Cruise Moab 2002. Worked great, and now it's here in the Philippines and I'm driving it all over the place.

Wow, Phillipines! That's great. At the time I sold you the bumper, my family had just had a major traffick accident in my wife's Expedition - which by the way, two fire dept captains and one CHP officer said probably saved our lifes. Even though the accident was not our fault, we had to take the other party's insurance company to court to get a fair compensation. The long and the short of it is that we didn't replace the Expedition and the LC became the family car. I just ordered my wife a new Range Rover Sport (soccer mom station wagon) and the LC will be put back into servicing my needs - getting me to my back-country fishing holes and hunting spots. I was going to replace the LC with a new one; however, after reading several posts on this forum, I've learned that Toyotoa no longer offers Locking rear diff's on the LC. I was tempted to purchase a new Hummer H2; however, after driving my neighbors new 2005, I immediately changed my my - I don't think I can live with an H2 for a very long time. Shortly after the H2 test drives, this forum gave me hope when I read that the next generation LC will be more off-road worthy than the 2006 model. I've spent a coulpe of grand on my LC with a major tune up and new tires. Hopefully it'll keep going strong without any major problems till the next generation comes out. Good luck to ya.
