I have the same question. I ponied up and bought a pair of later weatherstrip from Toyota (68175-90300 for 9/77-6/78). Hopefully they can be modified to fit - I'll post up my experience with that when I get the parts.

JP responded that what he used was some generic rubber sheets that he cut into strips. Either 1/16" or 1/32" thick. I ordered a roll in each from amazon:

You can get channel setting tape / everseal at a glass shop. It comes in different thicknesses. It is a rubber product that has a wax type surface. Not expensive IIRC.
Since we are talking about unobtainium.... the touch up paint cans. Does someone, or is it possible to reproduce that can?? They seem to be rarer then hens teeth, but seem so simple. I don’t mean a full can of paint, just the can.
Metric TLC was doing can repros, not sure if anyone picked them up after Shane?
Shane's cans were pretty close. Visible difference when right next to an original but on their own they looked good.
