I wish this whole headlight discussion could be moved to its own thread. It is VERY informative, but won’t have the same exposure buried in this thread.

Is this something a supermod could do?

Getting better with weatherstrip installation. I actually used painters tape to reduce the amount of mess not covered up by the weatherstrip and it turned out nicely. Fit is of course very @Racer65 esque... perfect! Couple little tweaks possibly but not necessary now need to do a water test.

Very clean install!

You might as well move now. It is a non-US part. TMS USA will not move on an order unless US customs/DOT import forms, establishing that the vehicle was legally imported, are submitted prior to placing an order. Even then they will only "consider" filling the order.

You are not getting these through TMS, USA.

Somehow some way, these were sourced by my local dealer. I have not put my hands on them (plan to pick them up at lunch tomorrow) but I spoke with the parts guy and he described what was in the box...sounds like it matches what @beno showed.

I also have a set coming from the UAE.

Did you order 5? There are 5 on back order currently. Which is weird.

No, just 1. After assuming it wouldn't come in (logic leads that way, right) I asked them earlier today to cancel the order. Parts employee replied back as - Ok, we'll cancel. Then 10 minutes later he replied back that the part had been delivered.

Snuck it through.

Recent Racer release is grommet 90480-14338 which is used on the fuel evap line, among other places. In the first two photos below the new grommet is on the left and my previous “substitute” that would fall out is on the right. These new grommets are a tight fit. I was wondering if I could even get them in, but they do fit well. The third picture below is of the one on top. I installed a second one below (not pictured). Two thumbs up.

Outstanding Roger
Thanks for your inputs along the way. After going through this project, I have a better appreciation for some of the nuances mentioned in your postings on cable restoration. For example, the '80 and earlier version is slightly longer, and does not have a cable stop. You were quite right to point out that the end needs to be melded to prevent the cable from fraying. I never gave much thought to your comment on silver soldering until I found out for myself that the cable does fray! Anyway, that's why I've only released the '81+ version with a cable stop, which does not have this challenge.

One thing I have not found or would be a great thing to reproduce (as any originals I’m sure are drying out) is the tool bag rubber band, or tie down band.
