Unloaded gear, now slight clunk

When I started to install my drawer system, I just kept adding and adding to the truck. About 400 lbs later, I took it all out and am stripping down the truck to prepare for Ouray.

On my drive to work this morning, I noticed a slight "clunk" from the rear over bumps. Naturally, I'm thinking that the weight in the rear (which for anyone interested, compressed the OME 865's by 1 1/8") compressed the drive shaft enough to require a re-lube and pushing grease forward.

Thats first on the list for the weekend, but any other thoughts in the meantime?

Nice to have the truck riding high again... 865's are getting swapped for 866.

Ok.... Novice here.


Grabbed some moly lube, pumped away until just a bit of water squeezed out the rear of the slip yoke, a bit of lube behind it, but then a ton of lube at the front of the yoke by the ujoint.

1. Does this mean I'm "all backed up" and need to disassemble/lube by hand?

2. Clunk (sounds like more of a "knock") is still there from time to time... Tried speed bumps but not what triggers it... Mainly some lean while going over bumps.

3. Could it be a back shock? I have Bilstein Hd's with OME 865's

It sounds like the sound a high heel would make hitting the wood floor if the woman wearing them had one leg, and she was walking down the hall way using the wall to hold her self up...

Its intermittent... mostly noticeable driving through parking lots, etc.

After 194 views, and no replies, I thought that this could help :bang:
 
Pulled shafts last night... all were clear and regreased... clunk is Still there.

Now I'm working further back. Going to check shock towers when I replace springs.

Sound is definitely more prevalent headed downhill, applying brakes on rough surface.

What are some signs of a failing diff?
