I had a courier ring the doorbell and request that I sign for a package that was about 2" thick and quite heavy. Inside was the settlement documentation (2" of paper) and a check for the settlement of a class action lawsuit against a company I owned stock in at one point.
I s*** you not, the check was for $0.84 - not even a dollar! Heck, the paper and the courier probably cost them $50.00! I wrote a note to my boss saying that I was handing in my notice due to a recent windfall I came into as the result of a lawsuit settlement. Then I attached a photo of the check. Fortunately he had a good sense of humor.
I was so excited to get new Land Cruiser mats front and rear. The originals were done and I was needed to get anyway. That was worth more than the check.
