Cool, I have the landtank seat extension and will wait for your package.

You're the first person to be excited to get their hands on Joey's package.

I hardly think I am the first excited person. Think about the first time you got one of his paperclips, that was a package you didn't even know you needed... ;-) All fun guys!

**ATTENTION**

I just got a call about an installation issue regarding the LockingLid for the FEM-1. To date I've heard nothing, good nor bad, concerning this product and I would love to get some feedback.

Please let me know of any fitment issues because I need to know if I need to start thinking up a solution to make sure it works properly.

So everyone understands, I didn't get the spring hinges I was expecting and couldn't wait the month to get the next set. What I did to help the situation was to introduce a SLIGHT skew in the relationship of the hinge to the lid and hinge to the hinge bracket. I did this because I was then able to introduce a friction element to the hinge just enough to give a positive feel to the lid.

In this current case it seems the stacked tolerances were just enough on one side to make the seat bolt not want to fit it easily. Simply elongated the hole in the bracket should solve the issue.

If only these were ready back in November!!! Shipping costs to the UK might be a bit much!
Was trying to figure out if I could fit my rechargeable Maglite into the space at the back.

Had a chance to install my Locking Lid for the FEM. I love it, but I did run into a few issues with installation which I spoke to Joey about.

The OEM seat mount bolt (with the captured flat and lock washers) did not align properly with the lid/bracket assembly on one side of the lid - the captive flat washer prevented the bolt from sitting flush on the mount portion of the lid (due to interference with the lid itself.) This issue was resolved by enlarging/elongating the hole in the lid bracket.

The other bolt-related issue I encountered was that when assembled, the bolt prevented the lid from closing all the way. This could be remedied by using a bolt with a smaller head - a socket head cap screw should work nicely, but be sure to get the appropriate rated bolt and washer! I tried a couple different bolt options that I found in my stash or elsewhere (no SHCS were available locally, so I did NOT try them) but nothing did the trick all the way. I ended up simply enlarging both holes in the lid even further to allow the lid to mount higher than originally intended. This gave the lid the clearance it needed to close all the way. It does still contact the bolt head slightly, but that helps provide a bit of "spring" up when the lid is unlocked.

The final issue was that I had to trim a small amount (~1-1.5mm) off of the end of the locking cam. without trimming, the unit would lock, but it took a lot of force to turn the key, and the cam bowed-out the FEM when locked. I just took the cam to the bench grinder for a couple of seconds, and now it works great.

This is as far as the lid would close before mods:

This is the lid actually resting on the bolt head before mods:

Marked in blue Sharpie is where I removed just over 1mm (estimated) with the bench grinder:

Also, the Cargo Liner is NICE! Superb quality, and easy install:

Sorry I didn't get pics of the actual modifications to the lid mount, but it really was as simple as enlarging the holes. I just used a step bit and drilled the holes out to 1/2" (as small as possible but still big enough to work.) I think Joey said at least one other person just elongated the holes with a Dremel or similar. Either way works.

Thanks for posting this @bryson

Since these are all hand assembled and hand welded there will be some toleranceing issues. I had already introduced a skewing of the lid-to-hinge-to-hinge bracket in order to give a more positive feel to the lid instead of the lid being floppy. That stacked toleranceing can be enough to get the holes to be off enough to see the issue that Bryson experienced. Simply dremeling out the round mounting holes to oblong should be all that is needed and NOT all will need it.

I'm happy Bryson posted this because I want transparency about issues so that we are all on the same page.

I now have three people that have confirmed issues with the lid contacting the seat bolt. So far its an easy fix and all three have chosen to make the minor modifications themselves. Please contact me if there are any other issues!!!

I just got the notice an hour ago that my re-order of the next batch of Fire Extinguisher Mounts for the left side and the new order for the right side have been pushed until Thursday EOD. Once again I need to apologize for the inaccurate time estimates. I was supposed to be picking them up yesterday to drop off at Powder Coating to be ready by EOD tomorrow but was asked to push til Monday. Instead, now I am not getting them til Thursday and I need to arrange timing with the Powder Coater. I had everything nicely timed and now I have to push. Frustrating already. Ugh! Sorry everyone.

***Update!!!***

So...I fxxxed up. In doing the passenger side I had made some changes awhile ago that never were updated since I wasn't really planning on making the PS mount. Well those changes did not take into affect the modification I needed to make in order to get the locking cam, on the lid, to clear the lip of the FEM. The result is a half moon shape extension that shouldnt be there. Well now I need to cut them off. All of them. One by one. This sucks. Sorry but it'll take a day or so to buzz through these and all I have is a small cut off wheel. :(

I have been informed that the tumbling/powder coating should be ready to go either tomorrow or Thursday. Once I pick them up they will only need to have the name plate riveted on and they are ready to be shipped!

This is for both sides ;)

Ugh, I hate it when I get bumper for larger/urgent orders. Dammit. So supposed to be done today but they just got sprayed with powder now and going into the oven so won't be ready to pick up till tomorrow.
