Uncomfortable Seats - Alternatives

Hey guys,

I have read many many threads about replacing the 80 seats with Recaro, WRX or Discovery II seats, but the genesis of these threads seem to be that the original seats are shot. In my case, I love my truck, but the seats is so uncomfortable that my back is killing me.

Assuming it will take me some time to find some Disco II or WRX seats, my question is, has anybody done anything else to make the seats more comfortable other than replacing them?

New leather, padding replaced. That's all I know of short of replacing with other brands of seats.

Your options are replace, repair, or cover with something soft.

I don't get this. I have a bad back (currently doing well), my wife gets uncomfortable pretty easily, with just shy 5000 miles in less than 2 weeks neither of us had any complaints. For us the only thing that would have made it better would have been heated seats.

Now I will say the LC is made for shorter people, which I am not. I put my radio device where my leg rests on it.
But I do understand some folks have a different "feels good" in the back side.

I sold a car due to it being uncomfortable. Couldn't drive it 20 miles.

The Cruiser seats are really uncomfortable for me (6'3"/190lb). I'm going the disco seat route.

Got used seats for 170 for the pair with controls (and heated!).
The Planted seat brackets are 140 a pop.
Need to mess with some wiring and what not. Couple bucks

That puts the project at $475ish.

Considering the seats are used as much or more than everything else, I'd say its worth it.

One thing I thought about trying was swapping the headrest; I just didn't think itd be enough.

Results may vary, but I would say the majority of people riding around on the OEM 20+ year old seats and foam, find them to be uncomfortable. I replaced mine with WRX units and its probably the single best mod I've done. The way I see it you don't use anything more than your seats, not even the steering wheel or radio !
