I just bought a 99, with 265k on it. I currently have a 91, and i have put alot of mile on a 2001 doing Expedition Overland stuff.

Got it for $6300. Looks to be bone stock, the is a little bit of rust in front of the rear tire, below the rear door. And some body dings here and there. It also came with a set of pretty new snow tires.

Drove it home about 100 miles last night and it runs good. smooth. All of the electronics seem to work.

It has the factory rear locker, and i checked that during the test drive.

The ABS light is on, and i did get some wheel lockup when i was testing it.

It also doesn't have key-less entry, or a keyless entry fob anyway.

I was kinda assuming that was a standard thing on the 100's.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

This is a guess, but the fob must be zip tied to the steering column, or under the dash, unless you have one of the Camry style keys with the electronics in the base, otherwise the car would not run. All the 100's here have a factory security system requiring the electronic "paired" fob to be there along with the key.

when I got my 99 I didn't get a FOB either, PO claimed to have lost it. I just got one OEM spare key and had to go to the dealer to get a new FOB. Dealer dealer did "swap engine ecu" and programmed a new master key w/fob. I paid 130 in labor to reprogram 1 master key & 212.48 for the transmitter assembly. this was in 8/14 at lex of serramonte; the oem spare key has the code/chip needed inside it for all functions except w/o a remote.

It's possible that the key that starts the truck is a master. If this is the case you can buy ebay flip-style key fobs and reprogram the transponder chip and the remote (two processes). I've done this and I have 4 master keys, 3 with remotes, for a total cost of under $80 including getting the keys cut.

Now, if you don't have a master key, you'll be blowing a lot of money at the dealer. Search the forum, I forget how at the moment but there's a really easy way to tell if you have a master key.

Got a link to one of those keys with remotes for that cost?! Sounds great.

do you know where one might find the instructions to program these?
I found mine on this very forum :)

EDIT: I should add that the process is different early 100's, but I'm not sure the cutoff year off the top of my head. A search should reveal the threads though, and you'll need both the remote and the transponder programming.

thanks much yotasavg! I appreciate it, I need to get some spares...

If you did the test to determine if you have a master key ( flashing security light immediatly stops flashing once key is entered into the ignition) then I bought my replacements / extras @ remotesremotes.com for $30 and free shipping...

I have a couple of the keys for my 98 that have the chip but no buttons for lock/unlock they are cheap on ebay and easy to program... just to have a spare...

Ryan, enjoy the truck. 265k isn't much, the 2UZ is a workhorse. Big fan of XO's work.

Thanks Kurt, I'm great!!! How you been?

Also, I did confirm that the key i have is a "Master" Key, as the security light goes immediately when i put it in the ignition, so off to ebay for some keys.

Still need to dive into the ABS issue. Breaks work conventionally. And no alarm that I notice. Just the light is on and the wheels lockup.

Could be a bad sensor. I had a faimed RH sensor that we were able to diagnose with the Techstream computer.
