For the record, there is a bit of brand confusion in the US. But Toyota makes money regardless. The rest of the world lacks the disposable income to buy the 'luxury' concept. But in the US, the Luxury SUV is a crowded market.
From their perspective, they don't sell Highlanders, LC's, or LX's, they sell:
Brakes
Frames
Engines
Body panels.
So it's not an all or nothing sale. The differences between the LX and LC aren't significant enough that the LC would ever be discontinued bc of US sales. It's more interesting what it is about the LC that the users here find of interest..
My gut tells me that the LC buyers here are all very utilitarian about their purchases..
