so off topic, the lights on your rear tire carrier... how did ya mount em and what do you do in the even you actually need your spare... cause i know if im havin to put a spare on last thing i would want in my war path is some lights to get in the way and piss me off.

back on topic, i like those speaker enclosures on the roll bar, what / where did ya get em?

On Topic: Bazookas fit this need perfectly. Wouldn't use them in every applicatin.

Off Topic: Picture below shows how lights and plate mounted. Clips on and off. Perfect solution in my opinion.

Let us know when someone steals it.

I'm guessing with the top off you'd need a decent system to be able to hear anything with the wind going.

I used to have a pretty nice system.. probably in the $4000 range in my fj40. Had it for 2 years before someone broke in and stole it. and you don't even have a hard top!

the grill covers are more than im willing to spend on speakers for the 40... much less the enclosures and speakers...

I dont lock my 40 or keep anything in it of value cause of all the break ins ive had. used to have nice things in the 60 then all got stolen, dodge got broke into, civic nothing but a tach to steal (and my hidden nitrous setup).

none the less.

i think it looks nice and i hope for the money it sounds well. but ive come to realize theives never sleep (even in broad daylight while im home i have had things take from the garage)

Lock

whats the wire i see on the sliders????

FJ40 spends the night in the garage... except now since the spring on the garage door broke last night and can't be fixed until Monday. The "wire" is a lock going through the front rim, around the springs, through the sliders and then through the back rims. Seems like overkill but being a 73 you can just put in in neutral and tow it away othewise...

My areas much the same, my friend had his 40 ransacked losing his ipod and some other little things from the glovebox when he went inside for 10 minutes in the middle of the day, a friend's Ranger was broken into on campus resulting in the loss of a sub, box, amp, and deck, a friend's K20Z swap civic hatch was broken into and had the tach stolen (nice autometer and only thing of obvious value), and a 91 firebird I used to own was broken into during the night resulting in a stolen deck and a dead battery (bastards couldn't at least shut the door afterwards?). A friend had a break in at his shop and lost a brand new tig set up because of it. Needless to say I've come to take security very seriously.

Back to the topic, the systems nice but with that much money in a stereo wouldn't it make sense to at least have an alarm system that pages you? I've done a few (roughly 10) car audio systems and anything high dollar usually gets an alarm as well. The speaker boxes, and large bazooka would not take long to steal (they won't worry about damaging your rig). The bullets could be taken easily with an allen wrench and wire cutters(assuming the clamps use allen headed bolts). If you parked for say half an hour at a store, someone could arrive and strip most of that system and be long gone. Especially if you blast it near your house, people will watch you for a while before making a move if sufficiently motivated.

hmm original already deleted? Is that cause it's all been stolen? If not, don't worry... you've already been marked... muhuhahahaha. you think that spring on your garage door broke itself? It's alllllll part of the plan...

Just make sure when you replace it all after the theivery that you replace it with some quality stuff... so when "my associates" come back they don't waste any of our time.

I hope it wasn't me that caused you to delete the pictures. The cruiser itself is clean and the system looks very nice. I meant it more as constructive criticism since losing parts you worked hard to afford and to install sucks. The problem is when you have that much money in speakers (looked on that site, those bullets are priiiiiicy but look great) people will notice and an FJ40 is not exactly secure. Enjoy the system, just be very careful to lower the chances of it getting stolen. I'd suggest an alarm with paging remote, I believe most of them have some sort of proximity sensor as an option. A friend in highschool had a TJ j**p that had a Clifford alarm that without doors would go off if you stuck your arm in the vehicle and page him (and yes, we screwed with him constantly). It'd at least alert you quickly so that you could get help and intervene.

Here's a reasonably priced single-zone alarm I was considering buying.. along with a Mega-Alarm from the same website.

RDL1 - Microwave Radar Sensor Single Zone: MEGATRONIX - MEGALARM, VIKING, MEGAPAGE SECURITY & REMOTE STARTER SYSTEMS

You could even go topless, and adjust the sensitivity so it will only go off if someone is actually inside the rig.

All pretty reasonably priced for a basic alarm that will just make a lot of noise. Plus, I have a multi-arm club for the steering wheel, and a few other things like secret kill switches. I want to add a hood lock and this noisemaker alarm. Luckily, it's all been overkill so far.

Back to the original.. what are these bullet speakers? OG post&pics deleted?
I have rear speaker enclosures made by the previous owner, that are really nice looking and also extra storage.

Splash, I like your pics and system. FWIW, I have had a fj40 for 10+ years and have YET to have anything taken from it! knock on wood. That said, being smart and not leaving valuable things in plain sight is most of the battle, lock-up and or hide everything else.

For instance, I have hidden a laptop in a cardboard box, and threw some random junk parts in to make it look like a box of junk... works everytime. Theives are MUCH dumber than they appear. ;)

I made a speaker system fo my Fj45 ute...or 'pick up' as you mob would say.
I have a 2/3 passenger seat so I picked up some 6 inch sewer pipe 50 mm shorter than the seat width attached a end cap with plumbing glue either end went to the cheap parts place and bought a pair of marine speakers (6inch). Drilled small hole in the middle of tube passed wires through to caps which I cut to appropriate size for speakers soldered and fixed them and then attached to head unit....sounds great, low power speakers means the head unit has ample grunt to power the speakers to a loud distortion free volume with out the need for a power sucking amp, especially when you have a power sucking Engel fridge to contend with.
The head unit is a Kenwood 747 something with dvd and gps, it also has a spare av input which will soon have a digital tv tuner attached.....and it can recieve am and fm radio too! ;)
Will post some pics soon....
Oh, I almost forgot, the price for the 'poo tube' (because it sounds S#1t hot)was about $40 all up including pipe mounts and speakers and it is splash proof.
I will be making another one for above the head board with a dpdt switch so i can have tunes on the job site. That means I will be able to switch from in cab to listen to this everyone with ease.
When I can be bothered I am going to experiment with porting for better speaker efficency.
