We have very little public land and you can only drive on it is there is a public right of way across it.
Within 50 miles of me there is enought trails to keep you going for weeks. I have been doing it for about 20 years and still find new ones. Some have not been used for 30-40 years. As for checking if they are legal to use, that it can be as easy as sending an email to the local (to that area) council. Every council has a ROW office.
