Does UC have a siper for club members to use? If not this might be a smart purchase for the club. I am looking at siping my TSL's.

Jeremy

I guess I meant "groover" not siper. Siped is the thin razor blade style cuts. I need to remove more material than that. Sorry.

Jeremy

Hmmmm, I might need to pester you about that.

Your talking about one of these right?

Yep, that's it. I will be up in Greenville before Dec. I will just borrow it then. Is it hard to use?

Jeremy

I can imagine it was a bit hard doing those huuuuge Krawler grooves. I've got the blade size you need for the TSLs - I either have the gun in my trailer box or it's on load to Captain Jim.

The smaller (1/8th wide) grooves still take about 20 minutes a tire to get those TSLs done right - but boy does it do wonders for making them wrap around rocks better :D.

Sputnik, do you have a picture of the TSL pattern? I was just going to cut straight across the from the point to the V of each center lug. Making them like SX's. Then I was going to cut a V groove in each of those. Turning one lug into four. Is this a biit much?

Jeremy

Looking at one of these three patterns.

1st pattern, just the center lugs split.

2nd pattern adds splitting those lugs diagonally ever other one.

3rd pattern adds splitting two lugs diagonally alternating from side to side.

Pattern two and three has twice as many cuts as one.

What do you guys suggest?

What size head and blades do you guys have? I am thinking of removing a lot of material, so a #6 and up blade/head would be needed.

holy hand grenade! does that tire in the middle have a hole in it, or is it just the camera?

Nice work by the way.

Shinny tape.

And I didn't do the cutting they came that way when I bought them. Alan has done a couple of these tires though.

He hated it.

I only put two cuts in each one - very similar to the two cuts you sketched out without the straight cut across the center. This gives you 3 triangles for each chevron - I sold these to Capt. Jim - I'll see if I can't find a detailed pic.

I don't think 3 cuts is too much but I would use a narrower blade. I was the 3rd owner of those TSLs and while there was some rock rash on the outer lugs the centers were still perfect (less road wear). Those TSLs are just damn tough!
