I think this might be a silly question for some but are the U-joints on a HJ60 the same as a FJ60 and BJ40/42 same as FJ40
driveline looks the same but want to be sure
thanks for any info

I should mention this as it's somewhat related. I was at Napa Auto parts last week picking up u-joints for the front shaft of my 88 BJ70. The joints they gave me were the wrong ones, too small. We double-checked the numbers in the book and they were right....but nevertheless the wrong parts. So double check the parts when they arrive.

I've learned from experience that the only u-joints that fit really well and don't grenade after 10,000 kms are the Toyota ones.

Just my two cents,
Craig.

Stick with Toyota. Every drive shaft I have done (when I tried a Non Toyota) either gave me trouble fitting or did not last very long. Now a days I have the shop balance and install the U joints usually and the shops I deal with all strongly recommend I go with Genuine Toyota U-joint, when I ask them why they usually smile and say "experience" and the design, toyota makes the cups that fix better and stay together. Just my 2 cents.

G'day,

Michael
