Well I finally got my new u joints for my rear DS I was puting them in using a bench vice. I got one side in and was working on the other when the vice snapped. What a PITA!! is there an easier way to get these things to go in?

I to have broken a vise. I just replaced my rear U-joints and this time I used a socket and a hammer.

Don't the bearings fall out when you pound on them?

You could make a press with some angle and use a botle jack. Thankfully I haven't broke my vice yet because that's what I use.

There is an easy fix for this. Take the grease zerk out of the u-joint, take the caps off the joint and fill with grease making sure the needle bearings are in the correct place. Now, as you are putting the joint back together on the DS the grease will keep the needles in place. With the zerk removed the excess grease will be squeezed out where the zerk normally would be and the needles will be where they belong. Messy, but keeps the needles in place. I use this method even when using a vice. Hope this helps.

A floor jack, couple sockets, and the bottom of the frame works. Hard as hell to keep it lined up but...... Also works for Johnny Joints, I found.
