u-joint removal? it will not come out?

Years ago, I tried to get the oem joints out and finally gave up. I took the driveshaft to NAPA and they said no problem, come back in a couple of hours.
When I returned, the counter guy said they were still working on it. From the back area I could hear BANG! BANG! S*@^, BANG! BANG! SOB!! BANG! BANG! DAMN IT!!
Glad I took it to them.

Just an fyi - if you have to bash those ears very hard there is a risk of bending them , which means the new joint and it's caps won't fit correctly . Best way is to use a bit of heat on the ears and a u-joint press -
