I was looking at it more from a fuel cost per HP point of view. I would expect the 4.3 to be significantly more efficient than the 2F while still offering nearly the performance gain of a V8 swap (assuming stock or near stock swapped-in engines).

I am driving a 1990 4.3L TBI swap into a non-Toyota car. IMO the 4.3L, while being an incredibly inexpensive and reliable repower, does not have enough power to satisfy those looking for a discernable difference in highway accelleration.

In the lighter and antique car I'm operating, it was a great choice and I'm completely satisfied with the choice.

What color is the carpet? Since nobody's mentioned it yet, you could consider a 3FE-same engine as yours, essentially, with fuel injection. Will you be doing the work, or having it done? If money's no object, I'd look at the FZJ engine, Toyota V-8, HZ or HD Toyota diesel. Otherwise, the Chevy V-8 is prolly the way to go.
