Spotted this in Ireland last week.

Not gonna lie, as soon as the 25 year mark hits I'm so importing one. I LOVE that 2 door look..

Saw a diesel "GX", too. I'd be all over that if we had access to them.

Note the logo on the grill. Not a GX, but the little sister, Prado.
There has never been a 2 door GX, only in the Prado version.
Although, it would be pretty cool to see someone do a complete re-badge of a 2 door into a GX!
That'll blow some minds on the highway!

Could 2 doors get kdss?

I don’t think I’ve seen that listed in any brochures
I figured it wasn't, but having KDSS on a 2 door Prado or FJ cruiser would be amazing if you were doing a minimal lift build.

What a shame we never got these in the states. I can guess why we didn't, but IMO this isn't really a comparable vehicle to some of the other 2-door SUVs that have bombed in the USA. Most of them didn't sell because they were pieces of junk, not because they were 2 door. Jeep still sells plenty of 2 door Wranglers, so there is a market for it.

There was the early Rav4's that came in 2 door.

One can't help but wonder of the feasibility of doing a 1UR V8 swap into one of these. It must be possible and not that hard if you had the 2-door Prado and a wrecked donor GX460. That would be a fun little rig.

They also made the 2-door for the Prado 120. They'll meet the 25-year limit in 2027 for a 2002 model year. That would also be a great swap candidate with a wrecked GX470.

I think the 6 speed transmission with its .59 6th gear would be great as well.

6MT in the Prado 120 version with a VVTI 2UZ-FE would really be the ticket, if someone could figure out the electronics to get it to work. It looks like the most basic 2-door Prado 120 only had a curb weight of 4,100 pounds. Such a light rig with a V8 would be a ton of fun to drive and have some real wheeling advantages.

Before march I would have said the same thing. But the lines I am getting away with are only possible with an auto in some cases and I am a stick shift diehard. Would much rather have the stick shift for the canyons and passes, as well as gravel fun.

AT is indeed much better for wheeling (for my post, I was referring more to the light weight and small size of a 2 door Prado). I wheeled in a 5MT Subaru for a long time...no low range and no low-end torque....and 26.5" tall tires :). But, I got pretty darn good at picking lines, and still apply that style when wheeling in my GX.

A MT can be good wheeling with an appropriately low first gear in the trans and ratio in the T-case. Case in point is my tractor....it has a MT but is more or less impossible to stall in 1st gear, low-range....the engine just overcomes the brakes.
