$5k OBO
Selling my LX450. It has been my daily/project truck for the last three years. Between walking to work, being out of the country and a shoulder injury—I have only put 24k miles (mostly highway going back and forth between MKE and the twin cities) on it since I purchased it in June of 2021. I have taken it on a few trips to northern MN and would not hesitate to drive it anywhere—drive down the interstate with one finger on the wheel. Nice enough to invest time in, but not too nice to get out and pinstripe in the woods—which I had the intentions of doing but didn’t really get to. Pics below are mostly of the worst rust spots besides the general ones.
The Good:
Pretty clean for spending its entire life in the rust belt, frame is solid and all panels original.
Paint is good but clear coat has some imperfections
No roof rack from the factory
Cloth seats out of an earlier 80 (no third row)
Cruise control works
All power windows and sunroof work
All interior (including gear selection in dash) and exterior lights work
Trailer hitch
New since 2021:
Oil changes every 5k or 6 months with full synthetic and filter
All 4 calipers, with new soft lines and pads (extra set of pads included)
Master cylinder
New Bushings for panhard, radius arms, upper and lower control arms
New Windshield
A/C compressor
Valve cover gasket
Front crank seal
Plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor
Alternator
Denso Starter motor
Knuckle seals
New radiator
Coolant flush
Power steering hoses
Steering damper
Transfer case and differential oil, transmission fluid
Air and cabin filters
Aisin Thermostat
Denso Heater control valve
PHH switched to straight heater hose
Denso O2 sensors
Mods:
ABS/LSPV deleted and rear brake line replaced
OME ARB 2861/2862 springs
Ironman 12683GR/ 12682GR nitrogas shocks
285/75/16 Michelin LTX m/s (matching size spare, just a roller though)
Rust free rear hatch from a white LX450 that was rattle canned to match—the paint has faded some and could use clear coat. I will be including a spare rear window. Original lock transferred over.
The Bad:
Passenger side birf clicks at full lock. I have a part time kit with knuckle rebuilds from cruiser outfitters I can throw in for an additional $1200 ($1920 new).
Intermittent P4041 code that comes on when ambient temp is above 60 degrees. I can’t figure it out but have a hardware solution. Passes WI emissions. No CEL light.
Like any 80 from the Midwest, it has some rust—the driver’s door pinch weld, passenger front wheel well, gas tank skid is pretty bad, and of course the exhaust. Some of the other pinch welds have a little rust and the side steps aren’t great—never got around to taking them off.
A few hail dents in the hood, and a dent in the passenger rear quarter panel by the taillight
Only some of the power locks work, all actuators sound like they’re working, I never got around to taking the door cards off.
A/C doesn’t work, holes in the crossover tube and evaporator.
Does burn some oil
Reason for Selling:
I’m graduating from grad school and got a job in California and can’t take it with me.
