I'm not talking fatigue mat stuff - that is pricey. I'm talking like $2/ft and its hard rubber, not cushy. This is smooth on one side and ribbed for her pleasure on the other. Good enough to keep stuff from sliding around too bad and keeping the wood relatively clean.

I'm already regretting not buying the full piece. Something tells me the shelf will not be stable since it will not touch the sides of the quarter panels... May end up having to re-do it. Or I may just take this piece back and get the full piece. to fit back there

That is the way to properly do it. I ran out of time for the HIH3 trip, so I just pulled the rear seats, threw in a cheap air mattress, and hit the road.

Yep. That also gives lots of head room. If I could pull the second row easily and had a place to store them, I'd do it.
@Trollhole has the most awesome truck tent from SOR and he can leave the tailgate down but stay free of bugs and junk.
