Turning Off Active Height Control

Is there any specific reason to keep the AHC switched on during normal road driving?
Thinking turning it off may extend the life of the system...
Thoughts?

I don't think you can turn off AHC.
Personally I would much prefer if my LX470 would stay in Low - making it easier to get in and get out.

On my 2001 LX, when you start driving, the AHC off function is cancelled.

This question pops up pretty regularly. Short answer is your active height control system is also the self leveling system and most importantly it’s your adaptive variable suspension (AVS) system. You can turn height/self leveling off (with the button) but it will turn back on as a function of vehicle speed; you can disable the height/speed return to N function (to stay in H or L) by removing the wheel speed inputs to the ECU, but then you loose AVS. You can disable the complete system by pulling fuses but then you have no leveling or effective damping at all. Search the acronym AVS in this forum and you’ll get more info on the full features and functions like anti dive, anti squat and cornering stabilization.

The best way to extend the life of the system is to make sure you change the fluid at the recommended intervals and don't overload the vehicle without upgrading your springs/TBs/add airbags.
