Ok, my turn signals have not been blinking but staying on so i want to make sure i have the correct wires were. This is on a 1980 Fj40 btw. I need to know what bulb plugs into what color wire on the wiring harness. There is a white wire with black stripe, Green wire and a green wire with a yellow stripe. Which wire should go to which bulb on the assembly. Also, my fenders have had bondo work done to them so there isn't a good ground so i need to know how to ground the assembly? i have done my search and couldn't find anything.

Thanks Guys.

Jason

Not sure, sounds like you need a FSM. check your grounds, make sure your bulbs are good.
maybe check the FAQ

If they turn on at all, there probably isn't a ground issue.

If they don't blink, is it just one side or both. Sometimes when only one side blinks, it's a burned filament in a dual filament bulb. If neither side blinks, it may be the flasher.

Turned out to be a bad ground. Finally got all the signal lights working fine. Thanks guys.

I am installing the larger 75+ style turn indicators on the front of my 74 FJ40. Currently, I have a small round light on the bib that turns on with the running lights and a rectangular light on the fender that flashes with the turn indicator. They both work fine and the indicator blinks.

On the new lamp there is a clear upper part in the front, the lower amber part and then the side marker light. The clear upper and the side marker must be using the same bulb.

2 dumb questions:#1-Which part of this unit should illuminate with the parking lights and which part should flash with the indicator?

#2-When I hook the new unit up, regardless of which wire I hook to park or flash, the light does not flash when you turn the turn indicator on. You hear the flasher click once, the lamp illuminates but it doesn't continue flashing. I have a jumper wire run from the mounting stud of the light direct to the battery ground so I know it's not that. If I hook the old lamps back up, the flasher will flash. Do I just need a different flasher because of a difference in the current draw between the 2 units? If so, what type of flasher is the right one to get?

Are the bulbs the same wattage, meaning the ones that work and the ones that don't. If so it is still a grounding problem.
What type of flasher do you have, basicly there are 2 typess.
If it is a turn flasher , the bulb needs to be of higher wattage like 27W.
