OK-I hate to be this guy-I am a total novice when it comes to wiring-so I have been asking questions about the same problem for months. Here is what I know so far.

I have a '77 FJ40-all of the lights work (headlights, tail lights, backing lights, hazzard lights) however, the turn signals do not. I have no issues with corrosion because the PO installed brand new lights all the way around. I dont have any ground problems. The fuses are all brand new-and I have even attempted replaced the switch. The switch that I orded from CCOT has a male plug on it. The truck also has a male plug on it. I am stumped.

The weather is nice here and I would like to be driving my rig everyday. I can tell you exactly what I am looking at in terms of what color wire from what location if you think you can help me solve this puzzle.

Also-I only have one flasher and can not locate the signal relay (I dont show one on my wiring diagram either).

Thanks  :D

The signal relay is in the engine compartment nest to the ignitor/coil. Little silver box. Check to make sure its connected. Also, there is a connector near that that ties the front and rears together, maybe it's loose. Did you try checking the bulbs. Even though the other lights work, if the blinker bulbs areburnt out, they will not work. I believe the blinker has two filements, thats why some think they are OK when they are burnt out.

Have they ever worked?
The Ground needs to be tied to the metal housing on the light fixture. I had a similar problem initially and turns out when I put the front light back on after painting. I did not get good metal contact for the ground wire inside the light fixture.

Romer,
I have been looking for that relay all day-its not there. Do you have any pics of yours. The only relay on the pass side is the horn, nothing else near the coil-nada and nothing fitting the discription of the signal relay. I'm not trying to be a pain in the ass-but sometimes I cant help it. :D

Maybe I mixed them up. I'll go look.

My bad. Your right it is the horn relay. The factory manual shows the flasher to be under the dash above the pedal. Maybe the switch is in the column.

Sorry about that!

I found the flasher above the clutch pedel right off the fuse panel-but I dont see a signal relay anywhere-I have been chasing wires all week-it all looks right, but...

I scanned the page out of the factory manual. I hope that helps
