Turn off Seatbelt Chime?

You won't find much. The dealer or a repair shop can't do it as it is a violation of federal law. So you're left with a DIY hack.

So I've heard this question before, but don't understand the need.

Why would you want to turn off the chime?

Can't imagine driving around without a seatbelt, especially wheeling, feels like my head would hit the side window if I wasn't belted in. Same for passenger.

I disconnected my chime about 6 years ago. That doesn’t mean I don’t buckle up every time I get in the truck. I can easily turn it back on if I need to.

Only reason I could think of since the annoying chime either breaks the mood or makes the tempo robotic.

One reason it’s not always a safety issue and just an annoyance:

You put something heavy like my dog on the passenger seat...the passenger seatbelt chimes because it senses the weight...and assumes there is an unbelted person.

Then...every time you start from a stop...it chimes again.

One simple solution including the temporary chime on driver is using one of these:

When you disable it with tech stream does the seatbelt light still blink ?

You can gently slide this plastic piece from your seatbelt (button part) out and it has a tiny spring. You can take a piece of electrical tape and secure the tiny spring in the “compressed” position. I then wrapped the entire piece in electrical tape and tucked it back under my seat. No chime. No blinking light.

My LX hates me. I now need counseling, it’s yelled at me so much I have a complex. Apparently I am the most reckless, dangerous person to drive an LC200 ever. Seatbelt, door open while in other than PARK, rear hatch open in other than PARK. My LX tells me 10x a day I’m a dumbass.

As far as the seatbelt goes I hate the chime. I drive around a boat yard and airport regularly never exceeding 20mph. I always wear it off-road (as in off-roading) or on-road.

I need to figure out how to cut the under hood beeper. Ideally it’d beep for door lock only.

I thought Toyota had a solution built in, already? From Reddit: "Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position. Do not crank the engine. Press the small knob on the instrument cluster to cycle between the trip odometer and the odometer reading. Press the knob until it displays "ODO." Turn the ignition to the "Off" position. Turn the ignition back to the "On" position and hold the small knob for 10 to 15 seconds. After the time has passed, put on the seat belt (while holding the knob). Release the trip odometer knob to finish. The instrument cluster will display "B off."

Does that not work? I'm looking at a 2016+ LX, so this would be nice to have. My 2006 LX doesn't chime, and I assume it did from the factory. Personally, when I'm offroad and at a slow pace, I like the seat belt off.

And where, exactly, should I "Insert the key... ?"

🤣

I just used Carista to turn mine off.

Havent got my 200 yet, but plan to do the same thing. Used one on my 4Runner to get rid of the chime and the goofy "ECO" bar that always told me I had a heavy right foot. Great tool and nice to have for diagnopsing error codes too

Doesn’t work.

Not only doesn't that not work, but it would be a violation in both the US and Canada. If your 2006 doesn't chime, then something is broken or somebody modified it.

Further, you really want your seatbelt on when offroading - even at low speeds, as a nice mogul or dip can still jolt you around and your head can hit hard bits.

Got it lol... Rather, turn on the ignition *

Doesn’t work that way either.
At least not on my 2008....

My Subaru had a way of deactivating that involved inserting the belt clip 20 times quickly with a certain combination of key turns. Weird...but it worked and was a known trick.

Haven’t found anything for the 200, though there are functions as described above on the Hilux and others...
