Finally placed the order to John at turboglide for my truck (blame Louis), now i want to do like Louis before and after run on the dyno. My question is how the dyno shop can read rpm on my truck? I have no rpm gauge like the RHD BJ42 i've seen.

NOTE: thread subject doesn't really have anything to do with this question, but i'll use the thread for the turbo installation.

No idea on the RPM but gratz on the turbo.

It made a HUGE difference in my bj73 when I had it installed a while ago... It's pushing 11psi max and it just pulls!

Eric, buy a diesel tiny tach from www.tinytach.com - thats what I did, you will need it for the turbo anyway - gives you an idea of what is going on.

I use tiny tach.

Congrats on the turbo! We are in the turbo club now! I am already putting together 2 turbo packages for 1HZ owners - one kit is going to Australia.

I see there is two model, 1/4 transducers and 6mm, i guess mine is 6mm, but what is a transducer, injector line?

how big is this? with the boost gauge that i need i was already out of space, hope it is not too big, gow d**m, my dash is going to look like that other FJ thread.

It is small and can be mounted anywhere. The transducer clips on to an injector line - make sure you measure your injector line first - they will probably have to make one to fit your truck - they did with mine. Took 3 trys for me to get the right one - my injector line is 4.3mm's. And they know nothing about landcruiser diesels so dont rely on them.

Though about straight pipe, but i don't think this is a good idea here, with the height of the truck if a cops follow me they will pull me over not seeing any muffler and they will send me to a inspection, not that i am scared of one, it is just a pain. I've already been pulled once, cops though i didn't have any. Anyway may take a few week before it is here. So I'll get that tach and have the dyno run done.

My injector lines are .244, so i guess there 1/4" transducer will do.

It shouldn't be loud at all so really they won't notice.

I have 2.5" pipe and it's not loud at all

I know it is not loud, they still going to pull me because they cannot see one. But sure i'll give it a try tho!

Louis, any other option you've seen?. They seem to be out of stock, and 3-4 week lead time, since they have a new model coming. I won't wait that long.

Yes, there is a toronto distributer of tiny tach.

If not there then try ebay. Make sure you get the diesel type though.

Ok,

one small step toward whining. I have the tiny tach install. At first it wasn't reading correctly, rpm jumping from 600 to 1000. contact with injector line wasn't good.

It also has 5 features, rpm, max rpm, hours, service 1 (250 hours), Service 2 (50 hours).

Tuesday morning going to dyno run..

They suggest to paint transducer when everything is good

Back from the dyno, not sure what to think about those number, ALOT of power loss through the drive train, maybe?. What has me worried is the guy told me when the dyno is decelerating it finds out the power lost, thus giving a good hp to engine number. If that is true i may have something to worry about. Hard to beleive that i can move this square box easily at 70mph on the highway with 46hp at the wheels. Peak hp and peak torque is right on spot on the rpm....

I sent those to turboglide, anxious to see what they say.

First is in 2x4, second in 4x4. Unforunatly i have nothing to compared it to. If any one here has ever had there 3B on the dyno, let me know what you got.
