My 91 80 has 200k on it, been a great truck, been in my family since it had 25K on it. So, we've got our money outta it. Would like to do some performance improvements on it. I was reading in other treads about turbo's. Are they a good alturnative? Super complecated to instal? who makes them?

Dino,
check out the yahoo groups 3fe listing on this one. there have been succesfull attempts to turbo a 3Fe but thats a lot of tiem and money for a trubo on a tractor motor.
the performance gains have been hashed out pretty hard over there.

FWIW, I would personally not put a turbo on a 200K 3FE for several reasons such as cost and the added strain on an obviously faithful, but also frail engine (at 200K). If you have that much money to put into mods on this faithful friend, I'd throw it all at suspension, tires, front then side then rear protection, gearing, and recovery probably in that order too. Or, put the money in rebuilding the engine and some minor performance minded machining type mods while at it. The person to really ask apparently is Shed Guy - if its possible, he'll know how, and he'll know how to get anywhere from 250 HP to 650 HP out of that 3FE, again, if its possible. Another thing to think about is that as soon as you add your turbo, you will probably have to redo the exhaust system so add some dinero for that too, and then add more dinero for the proper gauges to get ( Boost, Exhaust Gas Temp, Air/Fuel). I do not know what the electronic and injection aspects of turboed pre 95's are, again Shed will know. HTH

Swap the engine before you turbo a 200K engine. It will cost less.

If I were to do it over again I'd go with the SBC. Mine was on a fresh 3FE also.
