Spotted this ad on Instagram of a 2003 Cruiser with a supercharged GMC Denali vortech motor.
He's asking for $22k
EDIT: after looking at the pic a little more it actually seems like a centrifugal supercharger and not a turbo

An ls engine would be perfect for a 100 series. Great mileage and horsepower!
I'd love to have a newer lq9 6.0 in my 2001. I have the 4.7 in my 4Runner too and it is great but I can really feel the lack of torque and horsepower in my lx470

I have e been approached a few times by folks wanting to know if I have put a Vortec in a 100 series yet. Never really thought much about it because they are already there with a Toyota V8. Would certainly be interesting. Those boys in the Middle East sure do like their boost. I'd like to see an LSA in a Cruiser, just because. 550 supercharged ponies

I have an lq9 in my offroad buggy (solid axle dual sport crawler /prerunner). No boost or supercharger but... Good god! The power is amazing, great mileage, great throttle response etc. I had a 5.3 suburban that would out perform my lx470 in almost every way (not offroad and not in the handling /comfort Dept).

I know it's kinda sacrilegious. I'm saying this in a Toyota forum. I love Toyota... Dependable, long lasting, quality etc. I just love Chevy Ls series too :)

The Chevy LS is always the answer! From a miata to a apparently the 100-series. They have seriously been swapped into everything. Can't beat compact, reliable, light, and easy to source OEM and aftermarket parts.

I wonder how/if it bolts up to the toyota tranny.

I am right there with you. The power from a bone stock 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L is pretty substantial. I spent a whole lot of money in my youth chasing the kind of numbers stock Vortec truck motors put out. Treat them right and they will be around as long as the truck. The pull out motors I use already out lasted one truck :)

Agreed. The platform has proven itself to be one of the most reliable out there. In regard to the tranny, if going with an Auto I'd stick with a GM product and let the motor and trans talk as designed. Going to a manual allows the adapter to be the bell housing so a Toyota trans can be used if desired. Plenty of options either way.

I recently got my first 100 series, and my first thought was "man is this thing sluggish (compared to my 5.3'd FJ60)" :grinpimp:

I'm secretly hoping the motor blows so I can do a 6.2L/ 6 spd auto swap :D

Has anyone done the swap on this site? I know you said 60 but I'm interested in 100 series swaps. I'm currently seeking a 5.3 donor for my 70 Chevy truck.

I would love to have a 100 with an LS as well. If someone made a kit with engine mounts and so forth I would be all over it I think. Any info. on one somewhere would be great.

I fixed/drove a 100 that looked exactly like the one above but he dropped an ls3 with a t56 6spd in it and make it 2wd. It would spin the tires til 4th gear all day long... I think I'd rather have a 6bt 100 series honestly...

A kit for any specific swap will be generic at the very best. There are just so many variables that it is near impossible. I have not had two swaps on the same vehicle be the same yet. Motor mounts will most likely be the only repeatable part as even cross members will change with application. Some insist on shifter location dictating drive line position, others do not for example.

Wiring is about impossible to just "plug and play". To my mind, tying into the OEM systems like the fuel pump circuit to power the new pump etc is just building in future issues. Imagine being the guy 8 years from now trying to figure all that out when the truck breaks down.

In short, it is going to be a learning experience no matter what you do. Obviously, if you have experience with swaps in general that will go a long way. I'd start by researching what systems in your rig will be affected by the swap. I can tell you I'd be losing the transfer case myself and figuring out how to use a manual case . That will remove any "hacks" required to get the T case to work .

Yeah, I'd likely use a gm engine, trans and np241 manual tcase (sye kit too)
The rear is offset and the np241 would likely exit directly into the gas tank or close to it.
