I have a 1994 2.8 diesel 4runner and am wanting to put a turbo in it. The body has done 280k kms but the a reconditioned engine was put in 50k kms ago. Any thoughts? Will the engine cope? how should i do it? Where should i get parts? (i live in Sydney Australia btw)

thanks
Jeremy

Was it your engine that you received that was reconditioned, or was it a changeover engine that was reconditioned? - How is the perceived power levels between the oldy and the newy?
My 2L with bangon piston size and bore honing, and injection pump setup to legitimate manuafacturer's specification and because of this has plenty of power.

I did look into doing a turbocharger addition after the first rebuild of my 2L, but I didn't come across a single entitiy that had a `kit`, so instead I did another rebuild and it now runs perfectly.

I'm awaiting an inane response about how plentiful such a kit is in this country and how we're spoiled with diesel engines.

I don't know

I just bought the vehicle, like two weeks ago, and so can't compare power. I've got the records and talked to the mechanics and so I know the original engine was replaced with a reconditioned one.
