I have a set of 16" one piece wheels that I picked up on auction here. I was in the process of painting a few bare spots before mounting tires and I found stickers on teh inside that say " Do not mount tubeless tires on these wheels."

Any info on these? How are they different than regular tubeless rims? I'm quite tempted to mount the tires anyway.

So would you run it and if so why not? How would a tube keep the bead in place any better if the tire is that low.

Even in Japan these are very rare. Cruisers here just as in the U.S. were fitted with 15".

With tubes they don't have to keep the bead sealed, just in place. Ever tried to break down a bead by hand? That little hump seems to make a big difference. I don't know if I'd run them without tubes. You could always mount a tire, air it up, then try some slow-speed abuse to see if it holds up--push against curbs at an angle like parking, maybe try it aired down too. Take it off road and see how it does. Not worth risking your rig, your safety, or someone else's if it isn't safe. Let us know what you find.
