where do you west coast guys get your tube? I am trying to organize a group buy and split shipping here to hawaii..( you dont want to know how much they want per stick here.) going to try to get a decent price. so any imput?

There is an online place that has pretty good prices but I forget the name. it was mentioned somewhere on the pirate board. All I could find on a quick search was onlinemetals.com but they are pretty expensive because they deal with small 1' cuts & up.

this guy in pirate sells for real good prices: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=442891.

your looking at a minimum of about $500-$1k shipping for a few sticks from Long Beach or Seattle, & you can double that from the eastern US. You could fill a whole 40' container & shipping will be about $3k from a western port or about $5k from the eastern US. Thats ALOT of tubing!

unless steel has gone way up in Hawaii in the last year its not much more expensive than here in Vegas (about $.75/lb)

Your best bet if you would like a container load would be to source steel from China or Thialand. Shipping will run about the same but I'm sure the cost of steel will be less than 1/2. I just picked up some A500 steel pipe from Thailand here in Vegas so prices must be cheap over there since that is mostly what they're selling overhere. I'm sure you could find some contacts in Honolulu. I worked with a guy over there who imported all kinds of stuff from China. PM me if you would like his contact info.

dude at localy 104 a stick shiping cant be THAT bad.. I get chargd per squar foot. I am not talking a FEW sticks I am talking ~1000feet. for 878. (based on my cubic foot rates.) going off of what I got from pirate of he current ~perfoot from tube supply plus my shipping it 65 a stick.

Shipping is CRAZY when it comes to large stuff to Hawaii. You pretty much only have Matson, CSX & (someone else I forget) to deal with. there are a few companies such as honolulu freight that breakup containers & last I remeber they charge about $7 per cuft of space. Then you have to pay someone to deliver to the fright company. You would prabably need to ship about 100+ 20' sticks to make up the differenence.

I built a house for one of our clients overthere & we shipped all of our materials from Seattle. It was about $5k per 40' container delivered. maybe you could find someone willing to sell you some space in thier container.

Call some steel suppliers in Seattle & Honolulu and maybe they'll give you a better deal shipped. Also see if the local suppliers will give you quanity discount. the guys at Incom up by home depot use to negotiate with us on some stuff.
buying steel anywhere sucks nowadays!
