I posted on pirate, but figured I'd post here too.

Anyone know where to get tube inserts for FJ80 TRE's? I've got almost all my steering stuff figured out and ordered, except where to get these damn inserts from. I'm running full hydro to the stock 80-series arms, so using the FJ80 TRE's makes sense since they will fit and I have them already.

Any leads?

Thanks,

Ary

No, but thanks.

That is an insert you put into a hole to fit the taper of the TRE. I need the piece that the threaded end of the TRE threads into. It's a weld-in bung that you weld into the end of a piece of tubing and then thread the TRE into, thereby creating a tie-rod.

Ary - I've got my stock tie rod somewhere and since I converted my steering arms to accept the GM 1-ton tre's it is worthless to me. Let me see if I can find it if that'll help. If not, no I have no idea where to get inserts...

Mike, thanks very much for the offer. I have the stock tierod and draglink from the axle, but I can't use them unfortunately. I thought about it, but no matter what it'll turn out pretty hack.

Thanks again.

You can have Luke at 4x4Labs hook you up as well. He can have the rods in the 0.25 dom tubing as well, very nice. but you should really think about using the 1-ton TRE's. Maybe Luke will talk you into them :D

good luck, project is looking fun

Mike, did you just have your steering arms reamed out to the 1-ton taper? That might be a viable option. I ran the 1-ton stuff on my old XJ, and was pleased with its performance.

Thanks,

Ary
