Hi everyone,

While performing the water pump replacement, I had to remove this pipe and it was so brittle that just broke. I've called to quite a few of the dealerships and none have the part but it looks like its literally a plastic pipe that could be replaced with a hose.

Any obvious objection in replacing this with a regular coolant / vacuum hose ?

Thanks.

On parts like that, there's no reason to spend big dealer prices on something that can be found in your local hardware store.
Just be sure to note what psi, fittings, resistance to chemicals, etc. are compatible with the application which you'll be using it in.
I had to replace a very brittle factory plastic T fitting on my 100 series and just went with a brass T fitting from Lowes!

I broke that one too, in two spots. Local dealership charged me $86 for it, also said it’s the first one they’ve ever sold...which I hardly believe.

I literally just moved the hose to the side and it cracked. I bought it from mylparts , let’s see if they have it in stock and how long to AustinTX

Mine cracked in half at the Y above the thermostat housing when removing it and then when installing it to wrap up the job, it cracked in half again just passenger of the mounting bracket. So damn brittle.

MyLParts had my order to me in 2 days (CA to CO). You can probably take some quality tape and wrap it back together for now. I believe it’s a low PSI air hose.

Heck, if it's a low psi hose, why not just get some hose from your local hardware store or order some from McMaster-Carr?
McMaster-Carr may not be cheaper than your local hardware store, but their selection is huge and you should be able to find what you're looking at a fraction of the cost of a factory part.
Albeit, I'm saying this all without knowing what you're spending for your part. So if you're part is just a few clams, the by all means go with factory. My issue is how long the factory part lasted!
