Hey Guys,

Made it to Texas with a issue, hope to meet up with evey one on the Moab trip this fall.

Looking for some input on overheating 2F FJ60. I made the trip from Santa Fe, NM to Austin, TX my truck started to overheat 60 miles out of Austin and not finding any leaks yet. Does this sound like my water pump or ratiator is going out?

Also, I can drive the truck without overheating no A/C runing and turning the heater on.

fan clutch may not be working and not pulling enough air thru the rad.

Hi James,
I guess you decided to drive it instead of store it in town.

I don't know much about the 2F but, in general, you want to start your trouble shooting with the basics of your cooling system.

1. Good coolant level and 50/50 mix.
2. Good radiator cap.
3. No visible leaks.
4. Good thermostat (could be stuck partially closed.)
5. Good Toyota belts & properly tensioned
6. Good radiator hoses
... then you start getting into the more expensive parts ...
7. Fan clutch
8. Radiator
9. Water pump

On the 80s, the radiator is more likely to cause a problem than the water pump.
Good luck and keep us posted.

You can find some good Land Cruiser generation details here:

Then click on the pictures of each vehicle to get some specifications.

Same for me. My gas gauge reads empty after ~16 gallons. I start freaking out when I get over 200 miles since the last fill-up. Then I found out from that site it has a 23 gallon tank. Obviously, I could probably go to 250 miles and still have plenty. I still start planning my fill up (who has the cheapest gas?) at 180 miles though.

the last couple times I've been filling around 13 gallons and thinking I was lucky to make it to the gas station. By that time the Fuel marker doesn't even twitch at start up.
