Hi guys any help appreciated.Today took the truck for a drive and screen starting flashing on and air conditioning to and battery light come on and car stalled didn't start.Battery is 8 months old.Of late been noticing the common alternator whine that's been mention on threads.

Had to get a tow to the garage and they did a battery check and said battery is gone alternator is fine.New battery fitted 1 hour into the drive same issue with load on air conditioning, radio etc started to die loose power flicking of screens etc. Switched them all off was fine car.The car idles probably when no load on it like air conditioning, radio, lights etc as soon they come on it dies new battery is indicating need charge. Is it the alternator gone guys ?.

Get a volt meter and test the voltage at the battery when engine is running. It should be 13 to 14V. Now try with headlights and a.c. on, the voltage should remain the same.

How many miles in the LX. If your alternator is original, just get a Toyota brush kit and install it. Never install aftermarket alternator.

Hope you heard about partsouq. It's in your town and they sell oem parts for cheap.

Try this.

They don't sell locally believe it or not.

Try that buddy as soon as we turned headlights and a.c on etc car just stalled without them being switched on runs fine.

Could it be alternator fuses ?.Car has 278000 miles. The whine has been there for last couple months.

Sounds to me like the alternator itself is bad, and has now (likely) killed 2 batteries. What is the voltage read at the battery with the truck running, but no accessories switched on?

The alternator fuse could be the culprit, but if it is, you need to find the reason the fuse blew and repair it.

I'd also make sure the battery cables are in good shape and free of internal corrosion, and make sure they have good clean connection points.

Too bad partsouq is catering only the world - UAE .
Check the voltage at the battery. You can post a picture of your dash voltmeter here.

It is most likely the brushes.

Thanks guys will do.Is the whine usually a tell sign for bushes and bearing gets loudest when a.c. and lights are on.

I don't know too much about electric motors/alternators/generators and such, but if the whine gets worse as the load increases, that sounds like issues beyond brushes (not bushes in this case). And a bad bearing can certainly make noise, but it shouldn't effect the charging capacity of an otherwise functioning alternator.

You probably have two issues, bearings and brushes. Both of which are replaceable.

Does it have issues with just a heavy electrical load like headlights, wipers, stereo, etc. all on but the A.C off? Maybe I misread something, but you mention the A.C being on every time in conjunction with other electrical items, based on this, it’s possible the clutch, coil, and/or compressor may be contributing to the issue. It does sound as though the alternator is a significant part of the problem as well.

Hi yep even with the above headlights, wipers a slow or not work, stereo, cruise control and no ac on still does it any load.
