Does anyone know if the rear bench seats out of a 78 series troopy have the same mounting points ect as a 75 series? Some have come up on the internet and they are too far away to go and try them. My 75 currently has no seats in the back.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the Mud.
78 and 75 have the same mounting points.
What is the seating cap on your original tag 3 5 6 or 11.
It will make a difference what factory mounts you have.
3 it will have none in the rear.
5 or 6 will have forward facing seat on wheel arch .
11 will have all side facing mounts.

Oh right i assumed they all had mounting points. I don't have the car yet, I'm going to pick it up on Saturday. On the net it tells me it's registered as a 2 seater so I'm not liking my chances of having mounting points in the back.

Would it be difficult to mount seats in the back if it wasn't a stock option? Or is it as easy as drilling some holes and bolting?

Thanks for your help

Wait until you get it and look at the seating cap on its original tag , then can tell you what mounts it has.
My 97 HZJ is a 3 seater, was an 11, but retagged when I converted it to a pop top camper.

Can you help me out. I'm in a similar predicament. Where is the Seating Cap? How is it shown? Is it on the VIN Plate?

On the Aussie troopies its on their VIN plate. Its a bit strange, if the car has 11 seats its not stamped, if it is a 2/3/5/6 seater it is stamped.
Just above my finger is the seat cap. If you open the right rear door, beside the door check strap you got 3 holes with thread it is an 11 seater and no the threads arnt in their if the holes arnt there. 201_2291.webp 201_2292.webp 201_2293.webp You make a plate with threads and slide it in the hole in behind the trim, or use nutsets. You can see the other hole for the back on the side.

Starting up an oldie here but do you know if you can remove side facing seats in an HDJ78 and put in a forward facing rear bench? I'm wondering if all mounts are potentially already in the truck or if there is drilling and cutting required?

Its the seat belt mounts that are the problem if the forward facing bench seat folds up. This is because the rear supports sit in slots that hold them place and the belt mounting are attached to them

Possibly left off for mining companies that want to add their own custom seating . Ive seen a few where they get a troopy and put 4-5 custom single seats in the back and then add their own plaque with max seating numbers

Mounting points for the forward-facing rear seat might be there in a truck not originally equipped for it, but some drilling is required. That is, the captured nuts are under the floor, but the holes to access them do not come pre-drilled from the factory. That's how my Troopy was set up, anyway.
