Troopy Alucab pop tops anyone?

Four guys and a couple pieces of pvc to rest the top on is all that is needed; the top isn't that heavy.

The biggest obstacle with the install is wrapping your head around cutting the top off your truck. I have some detailed instructions that I received after the fact that I can probably dig up.

I sure wouldn't think alucab would be keen on circumventing their n American distributor.

The top is expensive but being able to walk around inside your truck is a game changer.

Ok4wd is working with us so now

OK4WD?
I've had some questionable customer service experiences with them in the past.
They are the only, current, Alu-Cab NA Distributor as far as I know.

Yeap trying to get them from the source

This is happening in the next 1-2 months. If anybody is interested let me know I'm arranging logistics in ZA to put in an order

The price depends on the amount of units we get 6,200 per unit x4 is 5,500 per unit I am getting one for my troopy, my friend is getting one for his and we might order and extra 2 for future troopys that we might bring. Im guestimating 3k to bring a pallet of them could be a little less could be a little more i'm guessing the final price will be within 6,500-7,000 per unit . My friends shop is in Bend OR and will most likely be shipping them all there. He could Install it for you as well if you please. Crappy experience with OK4wd and even to just bring them through them they want to charge 32k for x4.. I don't want to give a shop about 7K profit just to put in an order for me so i'm going this route. If you are interested DM and we can chat looking for people with money to secure their own tops. We are also in the process of getting new pictures from the original designer of the Hercules top for Alucab. He opened up his own shop called Alu innovations and is redesigning the Hercules top in a couple of ways. He said the interior bed design is better and some of the roof lines are better as well. Price on his top is to be determined on his end but tells me they will be cheaper than the rest. Once we get his pictures, and price, we will decide if to move with his new design or old design.

Depending on the timeline I might be in. I'll PM you in a bit.

Wow, well Ok. I like your drive and determination. Anyone on the fence should consider this. Still expensive but appears to be a discount over the traditional route although I don't have and don't want to develop an issue with the distributor. What I can tell you is that the top is not that hard to put on....biggest thing is the mind bender of cutting off your top.

Improvements that I'd make to the top is a little more room to keep bedding. It's hard as hell to close with a down comforter and pillows. The tent needs some pockets to put a phone, wallet, etc. It would be super nice if the entrance hatch was in two pieces so you can get out to P without waking the "other." Another thing I've noticed is that the air struts that hold the bed up should be beefier....the damned thing has fallen down a couple of times in the winter. Maybe the cold weather affects the gas but it would hurt like hell if it hit you in the head.

Get a top. It's expensive but you won't regret it.

About what I got. Good luck.

Ever see a brinks truck following a hearse? Do it and get it over with.......

Do you know if Alu Innovations also makes the pop top for 60s and 80s? If so you can expand your audience. I'd be game.

He does custom work all around but right now he only has 110 and 70 series tops along with window hatches and other 70 series accessories.

I spoke to Leo at Alu-Innovations a couple of months back about Gullwings. He mentioned developing a new roof, but my impression was that he's quite a few months off.

Even though he may have designed the old roof, I'm not sure I'd trust a first gen of a new roof. New fabricators, new jigs etc. I'd prefer to trust the tried and tested Alucab, even with their ugly roof lines.

He also mentioned developments of electric mechanism for roof raising. not sure if that's really necessary, unless he's going for something that raises front and back, rather than just back.

Leo did not design those tops, it was in fact his partner Cassiem ... it is my truck that will be used to design and build the new top ... it will probly start this week if all goes according to plan
