Trimed wheel arches

Hi all

Been thinking of getting rid of the lift kit and trimming the rear wheel arches so the tires don't rub I'm running 285x75 with 16x10 wheels .
I've already done the front wheel arches now thinking of doing the rear any pics would be great of work done and how to go about it .

Cuz I've got a 10k winch and an arb bumper on the front it sags a bit with the factory coils in and I also want to fit a second battery so this could cuz more drop ? Do u know if Toyota have different coils that come with the 70 series which have the standard winch from factory ? Or can I buy some that are same height as stock but take a higher load bearing ?

No sure about trimming the arches, but I do know that OME carry a variety of springs that fit your rig. I've got mediums in my LJ78, and when I stand on the front bumper it doesn't go down much (I weigh 80kg). I have the stock bumper currently, but will be upgrading to a heavier custom bumper and winch soon. I don't expect I'll need to upgrade the springs. The lift is rated only 30mm-40mm or so, but ends up being a bit more.

Thanks for the info . But I've already got the OME lift kit installed not to keen on the high center of gravity . What I'm looking for is a set if coils that would take the additional weight of the accessories .
And hopefully get info on how to go about trimming the rear arches so the tiers don't rub away .
I mostly use my lc for desert crossings and beach trips not in to rock crawling much . So guys pls advise as I'm looking to get it done before the season start all help much appreciated

Oh yeah we aren't allowed to have our tiers stick out of the body work so the fenders would have to go back on after the arch trimming

You could just cut a coil or so off your existing springs. This effectively reduces lift, and will increase the spring rate. Worth a try as it is free.

There isn't much room to trim.. maybe only 1/2 and inch........
Maybe a small body lift?

If you look at the cross section in the following photo you will get the idea.

I cut my rears out about 1.5-2 inches in places only due to heavy rust, beat the inside upper panels straight and welded the whole lip back together turned out better than expected. Had to split the inner fender in about 3 places and weld in new sheetmetal triangles to fill the gaps. Lotsa cutting and beating not for the faint of heart.

There's a mess of bondo on there, previous owner loved the stuff, there were some bad ripples In the sheetmetal after the top chop they must've dealt with that way. Hard to tell wish I had a better pic but they are noticabley larger.

Btw not near done the paintjob i'm about 1/4 done there's gonna be a lot more pattern on there
