Is anyone aware of the interchangeability of steering wheels between the 60 and 70 series? Specifically, is the steering wheel itself the same? Can a 60-series steering wheel be fitted with the horn mechanism from a 70-series to create a J70-style version? The reason I ask is that 60-series wheels are more common than 70-series ones…Thanks

Hello,

If the spline count matches, they should be interchangeable.

If I remember correctly, 70 Series trucks use a 19 mm (I do not remember the thread type) nut to secure the steering wheel. A 60 Series steering wheel should use the same nut to be interchangeable.

Did you ever find an answer for this? I am looking at a new 70 Series (later 3 spoke type which is still available new) as a possible replacement for my BJ60 wheel where the foam has come away from the metal core of the wheel.

I didn't find an answer, but most people say that Toyota steering wheels are interchangeable... it's just a matter of empiricism.

Hello,

The parts catalog says that the nut is used on other (over 100) models. It also says that the steering shaft is 70 Series-specific.

It is a matter of counting splines and finding out if the number is the same for both 60 Series and 70 Series then.

Looks like 2 spoke 70’s wheel works for 60 series. That means the 3 spoke 70’s wheel might also work (as well as 2/3 spoke wheels are interchangeable in 70 series)

I would be surprised if the spline was different, I am more interested to know if the indicators will still self-cancel, or if there are any problems I'm not thinking of...
