Just an helpful FYI. I bought a Trasharoo and the straps are just long enough to go around the entire trunk (barn door) on the GX. They only have a few inches of adjustment left, but they fit. I don't have a spare tire on the back to mount it like it was intended.

Pictures?

I've been thinking about a trasharoo, but I didn't want to buy a rear bumper. It's good to hear that it fits around the door. Take a picture the next time you use it and post back.

Do you have a spoiler? I would have never even thought about trying my Trasharoo without a spare tire like I had on my 80 Series.
Yes I have the spoiler. I routed the straps underneath it and centered the trasharoo on the window so I didnt cover up the license plate.

How has this set up worked out for those who did it?

Do the straps disrupt the seal of the rear door?

I have been thinking of doing this myself since I don't yet have a rear mounted spare. I also have a rear spoiler.

Do any of you have pictures???

Your asking for trouble doing that, not trying to be harsh but depending on what you put in the trash a top it will rub paint off your door.

I did it, but not all the way over the top of the door. I put it through the window so I could still use the window to put s*** in the back. It kinda covered the plate but I didn't care since we were spending 400+ miles on AR back country and national forest roads. You can see in the pic where the straps loop through the back window.

I won't do it again. The small gap made in the door/windows seal allowed the finest of dust ingress and I didn't realize it until unpacking back home. The whole interior ended up coated in powder from all the dirt road driving.

Beyond the dust issue it worked a charm. Trash was kept outside and easy to reach etc.

We have another long trip coming in March and I'm still trying to figure what to do with it. Might strap it to the rack or put a plano box up there for it. Unsure, and open to ideas. FYI, A new rack has replaced that basket thing in the pic.

I gave this a try and ended up not doing it because of how it hangs off the spoiler. The strap hooks worked well, but I wasn't comfortable with the pull on the spoiler.
